FASHION: FAVOURITE A/W COATS

The one thing i love about this time of year is the coats. Not that i ever need an excuse, but it's always nice to be able to justify spending your weekly food budget on an item of clothing by convincing yourself that you may well die of frostbite without it.

Having a good winter coat is essential for me as i walk to and from work so I need something that's going to stand up against the often insane Scottish weather without looking like i'm wearing a sleeping bag - until that look becomes fashionable anyway, then i'll be all over it!

Here are a few of my favourite picks from this season.

Missguided Reck Check and Leather Jacket

This paisley Boohoo number is an absolute dream. The luxe silk-like material and print are to die for, and the orange and gold tones are perfectly autumnal. I also love the fur collar details of the Missguided jacket, how snug does that look!

Mint Velvet Faux Fur Gilet

I'm a sucker for anything fluffy and warm, so the faux furs, knits and thick wool coats are definitely at the top of my list, and the golden hue of the Topshop and Asos coats are perfect for the season.

I love the variety of coats that come out every year, but i think this year is a winner as far as different styles, colours and textures go. Now to choose just one...

Which is your favourite?

Missguided are having a bit of a moment in my wardrobe lately. Their current sale is huuuuge and has a tonne of gorgeous pieces so I couldn't resist picking up a few new bits and bobs for myself this weekend. God knows where I'm going to put them all, my wardrobe has exploded since moving! :(

I also created some ideas for outfits made up of pieces from their sale. You can find all of these items on the Missguided website and follow me on Polyvore if you fancy

FASHION: ARK CLOTHING STYLE

Ark Clothing
Ark Clothing

There are a few websites which I go back to time and time again when i need a wardrobe makeover, and Ark Clothing is one of them. I remember scrolling through their pages in the first years of University, and spending most of my student loan on shoes and dresses and then living off cereal for the rest of the year..... We've all been there! Haven't we...?

Ark had started to slip off my radar a bit over the past few months, but they've definitely upped their game recently with a brand spanking new website and a whole sh1t tonne of awesome summer pieces that make me wish i still had my student loan.

Here are just a few of my fave summer pieces from Ark:

FASHION: BRITISH FESTIVAL FASHION

With Glastonbury Festival kicking off a summer of music and warm cider in the sun comes the obligatory festival fashion fever. When I used to go to festivals *sob* I always had a bit of a melt-down if i didn't meticulously plan my outfits for each day beforehand. Unfortunately I'm not one of those people who can just throw on whatever the hell they feel like each morning and manage to look like they'd just strolled through Vanessa Hudgens' wardrobe, so a bit of pre-planning went far.

British Music Festival Fashion Essentials

So for all you festival goers out there, here are my top UK Music Festival Essentials, plus a little bit of festival fashion inspo from some British beauts who manage to perfect the look year after year.

FASHION: HOW TO WEAR SPRING PASTELS

Now that it's officially Springtime - can I get a 'woop woop!' - I'm really starting to see the appeal of pastels, most especially lilac and lavendar pieces as they make a great contrast against black and white.

To try and get more of an idea on how to style them and not look like a bag of candyfloss, I made up a few outfits to show how they can be incorporated into everyday wear.

How to Wear Spring Pastels I

This outfit is really fun. The frilly socks and strappy heels mean that it could be kinda girley, but I think the graphic tee and the tie-dye shorts (how awesome are they?!) keep it from being too cutesy. I can imagine myself wearing this to the park on a sunny day.

How to wear Spring pastels II
This is one of my favourite looks. I think these shorts are really cute, and love that they can be dressed up by teaming them with whites and heels, or dressed down like this by mixing them with the black crop, gladiator sandals, and choker necklace.

How to wear Spring pastels, Part III
This is one of those outfits that I completely love but couldn't actually see myself wearing. Probably because there's no black in it. I really like the structure of the top and skirt together, and the sheer panels on them both, as i literally cant get enough of sheer panels right now - seriously, it's becoming a problem - and I think pairing it with the trainers makes it more casual.

How to wear Spring pastels IIII
This is probably the most wearable of the four looks as the colours are much more muted and the pastel is kept to a minimal pop of colour in the top and sandals. The leather skirt and dogtooth coat toughen up the look and make a really nice contrast with the baby pink sandals and delicate jewellery.

What do you think of these looks? How would you wear your pastels?

Hope you all have a great weekend :)

FASHION: HOW TO WEAR A HARNESS

I've been seeing a whole lot of harness action recently, both in the shops and on blogs, but I haven't really been able to figure out how I would wear it myself and what I would style it up with. UNTIL NOW. After a good couple of hours of outfit creating madness on Polyvore (it was a slow day...haha), I have put these four looks together, all of which feature - you guessed it - a harness! Bet you didn't see that one coming.

FASHION: WORD WIDE WARDROBE, A WISHLIST

I went into a huge panic today when I realised that Travel Supermarket's Worldwide Wardrobe competition ends tomorrow. I heard about this awesome competition about a month ago and got super excited about it only to promptly forget everything to do with it straight afterwards. So it was only from doing some sneaky blog reading at lunchtime today that I remembered, and immediately got down to some internet surfin' to find the perfect ensemble's.
