This dress is one of my favourite items of clothing I own. The sheer lace body makes it a tad too fancy for daytime so i dressed it down with a vintage tee tied at the waist for a stroll around town over the weekend, and I love how the sheer sleeves look peeking out from underneath the top. This tee has been worn to death by me over the past few months so I'm resolved to find a couple of alternatives to switch between. You just cant beat a good graphic tee in the summer! Leave me a comment if you know of any good websites :)

I'm pretty devastated that summer seems to be over already here, and I had to have a gigantic coat to hand off-camera for these photos. I was even forced to wear a scarf and gloves to work last week! In June! Absolute madness. However much I love layering, I'm a complete sun worshiper at heart, so here's hoping it warms up again soon!

LIFE: EDINBURGH HANG-OUTS, APIARY RESTAURANT

Apiary restaurant, Edinburgh

For the second post in my Edinburgh Hang-outs series, I chose another local treasure in the Newington area of Edinburgh; Apiary is a restaurant, cafe and bar which describes itself as offering "Modern British grub to comfort and excite", served with a Mediterranean twist.

It features many of the usual suspects of British restaurants; salads, burgers, and fish and chips, but they come with an extra exotic edge. Amongst their snacks there are olives, dukkah (an Egyptian seed, nut and spice dip), and vegetable mezze platters; instead of your usual caesar salad, they offer a Thai beef and mango salad, or spicy prawn, pea, radish and vermicelli rice noodle salad; and instead of the standard fish and chips, a side of gherkins, lemon and mustard mayo, and watercress adds a refreshing change to an old classic.

The restaurant itself is rather imposing with its tall ceilings and windows, but is tempered by the dark leather sofas and cosy cubby holes, and with the addition of some amazing local artwork which adorn its walls. A beehive theme runs throughout the restaurant (an Apiary is where beehives are kept dontcha know), with a small beehive standing just inside the door, and bee and honey ornaments and artwork embellishing the tables and walls, giving it a homely feel.

Ric and I treated ourselves to brunch here at the weekend, as we'd only ever been in for drinks and bar snacks in the past. The service was excellent; polite and friendly without being too intrusive or too distant, and the food was amazing and an absolute bargain.

I went for the Eggs Florentine, because you can never go wrong with fancy bacon and eggs, and Ric went for the Omelette with bacon, spring onion, chive, red pepper and cheddar with salad, both of which were just £6, and both perfectly creamy and delicious.

I've been changing some bits around on my blog recently as I'm trying to get it more organised and looking a bit nicer. I've changed my header yet again - seriously, i seem to do this every month! I just get bored with it so easily and it's the simplest thing to change so I actually cant help myself. My dream is to design my own someday but I'm awful at drawing fonts, so until then I'm just trying to find a header that i like enough to keep me happy for a few months.

I've also minimised everything so that readers can choose to 'Keep Reading' a post to view the whole thing, or can just scroll down to the next post. I know this is a total marmite thing for bloggers who seem to either love it or hate it, but I haven't made up my mind about it yet. What do you guys think?

Hope you've all been enjoying the sun.

I finally found me a pair of Mom jeans and I've literally been living in them for the past few weeks. They're so darn comfy and I love how completely 90's and grungy they look. And all for just £7! Bargain. I also bought this top and am loving high-neck crops at the moment. There's a tonne on the Motel website that I can't wait to get my hands on; the Leda Turtleneck Crop in Ivory Stripe Net and the Indy Turtleneck Crop Tee in Cosmic Boogie Black are two of my favourites.

I've been off work since Tuesday this week and it's been amazing to have some time to just hang out and relax. Ric and I had originally planned to go on holiday, but as we're moving flats in a few weeks we decided to take some time to organise the flat. We have SO much rubbish, it's unbelievable!

The weather has been amazing as well so we spent a couple of days lounging around Arthurs Seat and having BBQ's in the Meadows. It's also the Edinburgh International Film Festival this week and next so we're planning a trip to see Life After Beth, which is a zombie rom-com and maybe a few others. I love summer!

Hope you've all had a great week and enjoy the weekend!

I bought this dress for Halloween last year and had completely lost track of it until i found it in a pile of forgotten clothes this morning. I have a really bad habit of leaving bundles of clothes hidden about our flat at the moment as my wardrobe is over-flowing with things! I've just started volunteering at a boutique charity shop as well which i doubt is going to help the situation much - I've worked there two days and have already bought some doc martens, a skirt and three tops D:

I love the tartan print and the cute bow tie detail of this dress though, so happy i found it again. You cant have too many cute dresses! I just really have to try to cut the bottom straighter next time... :/

Hope you've all had a fab weekend!

LIFE: BIRTHDAY HAUL

Gypsy rings, heart-shaped bags, flower pots, owl mugs, floral crowns, Lush bath bombs, cat-shaped lollies, fruit teas, books, my own personalised My Neighbour Totoro artwork (that's me in my black and white cardi!), millionaire shortbread cake, a stack of topshop and miss selfridge vouchers, and to top it off, a bunch of flowers from my man! That's all I ask for in a birthday... :)

Oh and I ran 10km for charity. It's been a good year.
